Twitter Narrative Summary

What surprised you about your narrative? How did you adapt?
Compared with other project, the twitter narrative summary is far away from projects that we usually do. I never thought that we could use twitter as one of tools to develop our school work. This project is less in writing than comprehensive developments project. Thanks to this project, I adapt to know how to use twitter; study how to make an infographic; learn the new software about edit video. This twitter narrative requires me all kinds of abilities, and I also develop myself during this process.

Identify the points you are most proud of.
The most points I proud of is that I generate an idea about how to develop out story in the twitter. Although my idea was not the best at first time, my group members still supported me and polished our story. As a group project, the most important thing is Group Corporation. I think we do it very well

What form of media was most useful?
As for me, the most useful media is infographic, because it can explain our twitter narrative in easy and clear way.

What form of media did you enjoy the most?
I enjoy doing the video very much. Since our company is to make Chinese traditional food buns, we take a video about making buns. It is very interesting.

Least useful?
I think blog is least useful, for we did not use it a lot.

Least enjoyable?
In my mind, twitter is the least enjoyable thing, because we should post twitter every day, sometime it is boring for me.

Identify the points you would change and what you would do differently.
During the process that we post twitter for our twitter, I find the plot is simple and is not attractive in the whole story. If possible, I would do make more conflicts in the whole story.

Optional: is there anything else you would like me to know?

       We enjoy this project!

Vlog can help our customers know more about our company. For example, the main production of our company is bun. Therefore, we can use a media about the process of making buns and put it in company twitter. During this process, we can show that our company pays attention to the food safety, and we spend a lot of efforts on our productions. Besides, it is also helpful for us to make advertisement about our company. Using vlog makes our company become more visual to customers. They do not have to come to our company, but they still can know our company. Vlog attracts customers to company more than ordinary blog.

Essay for Vlog

English Learning Experience
Learning a language is not a simple thing, no matter whether you learn the second language or your mother language. Therefore, it is no doubt that using language to write and read must be more difficult than to know it. Students in China need to learn English and use English to write and read as fluently as they can. Although I spend a lot of time in class learning English, and practice English reading and writing, I still encounter many difficulties.
I remembered the first time that I got to know English was in my third Grade at primary school. At that time, learning a second language became a mainstream in China. A growing number of parents require their children to study English reading and writing. However, English reading became a torment to me. Only did I know the words’ meanings, I can start English reading and understand it. Unlike Chinese characters, English words are composed by 26 alphabet letters, but Chinese also have 26 Pinyin to mark pronunciation; sometimes I got confused among English letters and Chinese Pinyin. Besides, as a third Grade student, I already had relative mature Chinese language system. Chinese characters are pictographic, and I got used to study words by remembering their patterns and read them in books. Nevertheless, I need to remember each letter in English words. It is easy for me to forget words and it also make a lot of trouble in my English reading. I always needed to look up words in the dictionary, but I already forgot what this paragraph said after I knew the meaning of word. Therefore, the first trouble for me to read in English is that I did not have enough vocabulary.
I still had difficulties not only in English reading, but also in English writing. When I go to the senior year of studying, I began to learn how to write in English. I started writing in Chinese before I entered in first Grade, so I was accustomed to write article in Chinese style. However, there are plenty of differences between Chinese and English. In Chinese paper, we pay more attentions to use some beautiful words and some figures of speech, and do not place many values to grammar. As long as a writer can express his meaning, no matter that one simple sentence has two verbs or not. However, in English writing, the first thing I learned was about grammar. When I write paper, I should care about how many objects and subjects in one sentence; use right preposition to fit verb; notice the ambiguity of sentences. Moreover, sometimes due to two language systems, I cannot express my meaning accurately. In addition to this, tense is a special part in English that Chinese does not have. There are so many tenses which confuse me completely, even until now I still cannot distinguish them clearly, not to mention the subjunctive mood, inverted sentences, and adverbial clauses and so on. On the way to learn a new language, I face a lot of difficulties that I did not expect.
Although I know learning a language is not a simple thing, I still feel upset owing to so many troubles. As a child, I inevitably have some bad tempers that I always get tired of the English at that time. Whether the classes in school or the books about novel, I always kept away from them as long as they were connected with English. In terms of my attitude, it was natural that my English grades were falling day by day. Therefore, about English, not only did I get tired of it, but also I was afraid of reading and writing in English. However, my mother did not know my feelings. In order to improve my English level, she registered some outside English classes to help my English reading and bought numerous English workbooks for me to improve my writing skill. Maybe, in her opinions, my English scores went down because I lack more exercises and extracurricular counseling. However, these things not only made any constriction to my reading and writing, but also made I feel more tired about English; moreover, I even lost confidence to study English. It was just like that I walked in a dark and disorienting forest, and I did not know how to find my direction to go out. My eyes were full of disappointment, even no moonlight can lead me to go out of this confused forest.
Luckily, I had the best English teacher in my high school. I still remember the first class that she did not use English textbook as the teaching materials. She read an English poem for us that named the “The furthest distance in the world.” At that time, this poem was very popular among us, and our attention was attracted by her. Then, she just taught us how to read this poem and how to get the right pronunciation to recite it well. It also was the first time I was interested in English reading. Every class, she would introduce us a new English poem at beginning and spent 5 minutes to encourage us to read an English poem in front of the classmates. Most of us fell in love with such kind of English class, not like the previous classes always pay attention to grammar and text books.
However, good times did not last long. After losing interests in English poems, the fear of English came to me again. When my teacher taught grammar and tenses, my minds always wandered in the class and my grades was poorer than ever. Nevertheless, my teacher did not give up on me and found me to talk her. She did not focus on my falling grades, but asked me which kind of English novels I like. At first, I was very nervous that teacher may criticize me due to my bad grades. However, with the relaxing topic, I talked a lot with my teacher and spitted out all my difficulties with English reading and writing. After I expressed all my troubles and confusion, my English teacher comforted me and suggested me to ask my mother to stop redundant exercises. She said it was detrimental for my English reading and writing, and it would cut my interests in study. Interests are the best teacher in reading and writing, if I lose the interest, everything will become a burden for me. Therefore, she advised me to find the interest in English and she introduced a plenty of English novels and poems for me to spark my interest. Under my teacher’s help, I gradually knew the beauty of English and fell in love with English culture. I am curious with the history of England and especial the exchange of the throne, therefore, I found many England history books to read and became totally immersed in reading. I enjoyed the poems that Percy Bysshe Shelley wrote, and “Ode to the West Wind” was the one I like most. I even like to write some short funny story in English due to the influence of the English novel.
With time going by, my English grades improve a lot and I am no longer afraid of the English reading and writing again. Moreover, English even become my favorite course. Thanks to my high school English teacher, she took me out of the dark forest and gave me a torch to lighten my way. She even solved all my troubles about English reading and writing. About reading, because I have trouble remembering words, she told me the first thing is to learn how to pronounce it rather than to recite it. If I have right pronunciation, I can recite words and their meanings very easily and quickly. About writing, she said there was a long way for everyone to write well. Therefore, I have no need to be upset that I cannot write well. As long as I practice my writing again and again, I can write paper well one day. My English teacher built my confidence again, and I am so lucky that I can meet her in my life.

Now, I am an undergraduate and I choose English as my major. Although there was a time I felt trouble with English reading and writing, I overcame those difficulties with my teacher’s help. I hope I can be an English teacher after I finish my college course, because I want to be a teacher likes my high school English teacher to help students who have difficulties with English reading and writing.

It is useful for us to put different kinds of media to create a layered narrative in your Twitter narrative. Because our company is Food Company that is making buns, we should pay attention to the food safety. Therefore, we can tweet the news media about the food safety, and attract audience attentions. It is helpful for them to know our company, and trust our company compare with other buns company. What is more, our twitter narrative is a story about love. The stuff fell in love with the waitress, but the waitress liked the manager. Due to envy and hate, the stuff slandered the waitress. However, in the end, the manager knew the truth and fired the stuff. About this story, we can use some picture and video to show how the stuff slandered the waitress. Due to different kinds of media, we can make our twitter narrative more reliable.

From this blog, the author gives us several ways to attract more followers in the twitter. First of all, the easiest way to get more followers is that you follow many people, and some of them may follow you back. However, as for author, this way is not the best way to draw people’s attentions, because not everyone will follow you back although you follow them. Therefore, the author introduces some other ways. One of them is that you should be active in the twitter. If you are always quiet, no one will know you, even follow you. Besides, you can tweet interesting things to attract people’s attentions. When you put something funny in your twitter, other people may report it, and then more people can know you and follow you. In addition to this, if you are a famous person, you will get a lot of followers although you tweet something boring. However, this way is not fit for us. Therefore, we can use the previous methods to attract more followers in our twitter.

There are many different ways to use a twitter bot in narrative, but it depends on what kind of story that you want to create. As for our business, I think we can use the twitter bot to raise a conflict between chief cook and manager. Since our business focuses on Chinese buns, we can use twitter bots to cause a conflict. When chief cook decides to buy good materials to make buns, manager just wants to buy common materials, because it can make more profits for the company.  Then, with this problem, we can develop story with manager’s and chef’s arguments. The twitter can intensify the conflict to push the story’s development. In the end, we can use twitter bots to make a judgment.

According to the article, we can know that with technology advancing at such rapid speed, and the way we consume and digest constantly evolving information. In order to adjust to this trend, the designers should develop new editorial formats, platforms, and visual languages to make data more visual. Therefore, at that time, the infographic thinking becomes more and more important. Like the author describing in the article, the workshop is aim to strengthen learners’ capacity. For example, the course is help learner to understand complexity of data and information produced, to develop a whole infographic project, and to convince and realize the infographics have wide ranging applications. From this workshop, we can figure out that we should translate the data that allows the consumer of that information to process and digest meaningful knowledge. As for me, the infographic thinking is useful for us, because we should collect a lot of data for our project. Therefore, it is necessary for us to have an effective way to analysis them. Thanks to this article, I have a clear way to deal with data with infographic thinking.

It is very important for writer to be a good typography, because the most valuable resource you have as a writer is reader attention. Therefore, to be a good typography can help you engage readers, guide them, and ultimately persuade them. Besides, the more you appreciate what typography can do, the better a typographer you can become. From this reason, we can figure out that typography can catch the readers’ attention that writer most care. The second reason is that a good typography can impress reader very well. As we all know, a brilliant work can leave the deep impressive for readers after they finish reading. Then, if you do typography well and the work is easy for audience to follow and understand, your work must have half success. In a word, typography is very important for a writer.

Compare with the video lecture, the infographic gives audience information more direct. It is obvious for us to figure out that the lecture has 5 stages as a spiral and it develops step by step. What is more, the infographic also states a main phrase for every stage. For example, the first stage is “make me care”. About the video lecture, there are more details in there, and the speaker also gives us some movie clips to prove his statement. Besides, in the video lecture, speaker uses his own experience that is related to every sub point. As for me, infographic is easier for me to comprehend. The video lecture is lasted 19 minutes. At beginning, I can pay attention to video, but I feel tired to get information from the video later. The infographic can pass the information directly, and it also can save time. Although the infographic is easy to get information, I am still more enjoyable on video lecture, because it has more details and some movie clips that attract me a lot.

Directions:
For the infographic essay assigned to your group (only do one essay, do not do all of them)
1)       Outline the infographic essay
1.       The introduction is about beer’s and coffee’ s digestive processes and effect

3.       The conclusion writes about the main different influence of beer and coffee.

3) While you are only outlining the essay--not writing it word-for-word--you can still get a feeling for what this essay would look like. How is the infographic different from the traditional essay you outlined?
The traditional essay pays more attentions to text, and gives information by a lot of words. Different from the traditional essay, the infographic has fewer words and sends information by some vivid pictures. It is easy for us to know what the author says, and also can raise readers’ interests to read.

4) Strengths and weaknesses of the infographic: what does the infographic do better than the essay? What does the essay do better than the infographic?
Strengths: infographic is easy for reader to get and find information in pictures, rather than to read texts word by word. Besides, in compare and contrast paper, infographic can compare information and data more directly.
Weaknesses: Infographic just have fewer words, so it will eliminate some details. Besides, author explains less in the infographic; sometimes, readers cannot understand just by fewer words and pictures.

5) How does this qualify as an essay and not a series of pictures?
I qualify it as an essay, because it has main point that what the beer’s and coffee’s influences to people’s brains; has clear introduction, body and conclusion, and also compare the influences directly and expressly. Therefore, I think it is an essay, rather than a series of picture.

This article is far away from articles that I read usually, because it includes a lot of infographics to send information more interesting and vivid. The author who writes this article talks about his experience about music. The special word that he uses for his experience is revolution, and he also adds some impressed picture to express his feelings. Different from general articles, the author not only writes in text, but also uses some data and infographics to send information more clearly. It is helpful for us to read it and get information easily. However, there are still shortcomings in this article. Too many colors in there make me feel uncomfortable, and I cannot focus my attentions for a long time. Infographic is a good way for the author to send information, but it still should control in some aspect, rather than may make readers feel tired to read it.

This author teaches us to use data miner’s guide to romance in this article. There are three steps that mentioned in journal for us to follow and find a statistically significant other by Valentine’s Day. First of all, we should hack our vocabulary. The author gives us a lot of words that includes our location, interests, and something else. It is helpful for us to find people who are in the same place and have similar interests. Then, the second step is to reverse-engineer our photos. Through photos, we not only can find someone who catches our eyes immediately, but also can analysis people who are straight or gay, and author just gives us some tips. The last step is to optimize for our target audience. Like the author says, if you want to lure everyone, you will end with nobody. Therefore, you should have clear attraction to lure target audience. For example, you can tout your legs, if you are a lesbian. In a word, this article gives us a special way to find a lover, but I still like the way that let nature take its course.

The first time I read these two articles, I do not find there are some relationships between “Safety Pin as Signifier” and “Web 2.0 to Social 3.0”. Then, I read them in detail, and they have some similarities. First of all, punk and web both have experienced the development of a longer period of time. At the beginning, punk is regarded as a style of exuberant ugliness, and most people do not like it. At that time, about web 1.0, it only can provide information, with not much people use it. However, with the development, nowadays, punk and web have a great progress. What is more, a growing number of people use and like them. Secondly, punk and web influence other things a lot. For example, punk affects the way of making movies, TV shows and something else. Web also influences people’s communication, information exchange. Last but not the least, Punk and social 3.0 not only become the worlds of avant-garde culture and mass entertainment, but also they are the labels in the present era.

Entry 1

From Web 2.0 to Social 3.0, what is the main difference? In the journal, the author points the main difference is that software supports synchronous collaboration, but sites only support asynchronous collaboration in the Web 2.0. To put it simply, in the Web 2.0, we only can send a text; receive a reply; repeat in a sites. However, in Social 3.0, not only do we can do things that in the Web 2.0, but also we can engaged doing something inside an app or in a Web page. It is a big deal in the information era.

Social 3.0 also make a contribution to our study. In Web 2.0, I only can send a text about my thoughts in the sites. Sometimes, it is difficult for others to know my real meanings, and they often misunderstand what I want to do. However, with the help of Social 3.0, I can take part in the synchronous collaboration. For example, we make group presentation PPT in Prezi.com. In this site, we can do it together and clearly, as well as we can save time, because we need not do it one by one. Therefore, Social 3.0 shows a new step in the information era.
